Tim began a professional career with a B.S. in mechanical engineering in telecommunication, after graduating in 1984 from California State University, Long Beach. After an M.B.A from the University of Seattle, Washington additional 20+ years as an account manager and client executive, a series of events lead him down a path of personal development.
Tim pursued a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from Hope International University, Fullerton. Tim started practice in the mental health field in 2021 at Straight Talk Counseling, Orange County, a well-respected community treatment center.
Learning from a multidisciplinary team of leading experts in trauma, addiction, and intimacy disorders, Tim completed the basic training of the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) and the first 2 of 4 trainings to become a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist (CSAT).
Tim utilizes EMDR therapy for treating trauma and a recovery task based therapy for compulsive sexual behaviors. Recovery task based therapy was first developed by Dr. Patrick Carnes (the International Institute of Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP)).
Tim’s ongoing training and experience allows him to focus attention on helping people to recover from relational trauma and neglect, sexual compulsion and sexual anorexia, and betrayal trauma. He possesses tremendous self-awareness, as well as enormous compassion, sensitivity, and interest in others.
Tim is passionate about working with individuals who wish to conquer problematic behaviors and restore their relationships with their loved ones. As a result of such focused, solution-focused therapy, empathy -a byproduct of recovery from compulsive behaviors and intimacy disorders- and living a life of health and healing can follow.
