Therapy with Dr. Sibylle

My Treatment Perspective for Trauma, Recovery, and Healing

I am a Certified Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapist, and find that EMDR therapy can quickly offer relief and resources for those struggling. As each client is unique in what he or she may need, I don’t exclusively use EMDR therapy but various other specializations in order to help you feel better, fast. Possible topics include childhood (sexual) abuse, enmeshed relationships, addiction, chronic pain.

For example, if you are needing support for addressing sex/love/relationship addictions, I provide Task Based Recovery Therapy as a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT). Our joint work through those recovery task help you establish sobriety, relapse prevention, and tools to heal your relationship.

In addition, I use the Multi-dimensional Partner Trauma Model Recovery approach (APSATS) to help you help your partner heal. My training in the Early Recovery Couple Empathy Model (ERCEM) guides my work with couples who are facing affair(s), (multiple) addiction(s) and betrayal trauma.

The same multi-faceted approach is in need if you would like to work with me to augment your treatment success of a pain related and/or chronic health condition. Read more.

Attunement and Customization

Attunement, creativity to customize your therapy to your unique needs and complex situation, brief solution focused treatment, trauma and process addictions work are my strengths. I love learning from and with my clients.

Having lived and worked in Germany prior to moving to the United States, I enjoy drawing from diverse experiences (e.g., ages, ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, spirituality, and socioeconomic status). Consider me as your resource or sherpa, providing you with gentle tools and compassionate feedback as you desire.

Intensive Treatment

Healing and growth can be accelerated via a more “amassed” level of support. Individual clients or couples visit for 2-6 hours a day, for 2-4 subsequent days.

Examples of individual work accomplished in an intensive format:

-EMDR processing of “leftover” residual trauma not attended to with other/referring therapist(s); medically/treatment induced trauma.

–Topics: Abuse, neglect, abandonment, enmeshment.

-Post-traumatic growth: Relationship skills, empowerment, resilience.

Examples of couple’s work in an intensive format:

-Empathy relationship skills (AVR formula), timeline of problematic behavior, impact response (partner), emotional restitution;

-EMDR processing of “leftover” residual trauma not attended to with other/referring therapist(s); medically/treatment induced trauma;

-Post-traumatic growth: Empathy relationship skills (AVR formula), empowerment (partner), resilience statement (partner), creating a shared narrative, working through key incidents in your relationship affected by addiction/acting out/betrayal.

Examples of couple’s sex therapy in an intensive format:

-Psycho-education about demand-free, mutually satisfying physical and emotional intimacy;

-EMDR processing of possible trauma not attended to with other/referring therapist(s); medically/treatment induced trauma;

-Couple’s growth: Empathy relationship skills (AVR formula), creating a shared narrative, working through key incidents in your relationship.
