About the workshop:

Facing the Shadow is the innovative workbook that helps readers begin their meaningful recovery from -often misunderstood- addictive behaviors. Behaviors such as using porn or sex to relax, searching for the perfect love relationship, or chasing a high from financial pursuits or other forms of conquest (e.g., health related goals). This workshop guides participants through an overview of the first seven tasks in Dr. Patrick Carnes’ research-based thirty-task model of treatment.

Overview:

Each meeting starts with a brief overview on the topic, followed by time for participants’ update on their current task. Thoughts that maintain addictive behaviors are addressed and replaced with thoughts promoting health and healing. Participants can rent their “seat” in the workshop. Support between meeting times is available upon request.

Research shows that

  • Healthy thoughts,
  • Participation in recovery workshops, individual therapy, and therapy with family members,
  • Having a sponsor,
  • Healthy eating and exercising

allows individuals to establish sobriety from problem behaviors and maintain sobriety long-term (5 years or more).
